THE SHEPHERD AND THE GIANT
BibleWithLife

[Verse 1]
(Music in E-Minor, tense and rhythmic)

In the Valley of Elah, the shadows grew long
The giant stood towering, the terror was strong
For forty days taunting, his voice like a quake
The ranks of the soldiers began to break
He cursed and he rattled the shaft of his spear
But a shepherd boy answered, refusing to fear
[Chorus]
(Music explodes into G-Major, powerful Anthem)

(Leader) You come with a sword! (Choir) You come with a shield!
(All) But I come in the Name no power can wield!
(Leader) You mock and you boast! (Choir) Your footing is clay!
(All) I come in the Name of the LORD--Yahweh!
The battle is His, the victory won
The giant will fall--before day is done!
[Verse 2]
(Music returns to E-Minor, driving rhythm)

I strip off the armor, it weighs me down
I need no title, I need no crown
Just five smooth stones from the riverbed floor
And faith in the God who settles the score
The bigger the giant, the harder the fall
When the God of the heavens answers the call!
[Chorus]
(Music in G-Major, massive sound)

(Leader) You come with a sword! (Choir) You come with a shield!
(All) But I come in the Name no power can wield!
(Leader) You mock and you boast! (Choir) Your footing is clay!
(All) I come in the Name of the LORD--Yahweh!
The battle is His, the victory won
The giant will fall--before day is done!
[Bridge]
(Music builds tension, spinning sound of the sling)

Round and round--the sling is singing
Now is the hour of a new beginning

One small stone--straight to the head
Down goes the giant--down goes the dread!
(Tempo speeds up, explosion of sound)

Cut off the head! Lift up the shout!
See how the enemy's turning about!
[Outro]
(Music reaches ultimate climax, call and response)

The battle is the LORD's!
(Choir) The battle is the LORD's!
The battle is the LORD's!
(Choir) In the Name of Yahweh!
Victory!
Amen!
