Scripture & Song · Edition 001

A little courage for the road ahead.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Matthew 14:27 · KJV

Some weeks ask more courage of us than we feel we have. A difficult appointment. An unfamiliar beginning. A conversation we keep putting off. We may not know what comes next, and pretending otherwise does not make us brave.

In Matthew 14, the disciples meet Jesus while the wind is against them and the water is rough. He does not wait for the weather to settle before speaking: “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” His presence comes before the calm.

Take a quiet moment with these words. Then think of someone facing a storm of their own. You do not need to have all the answers to remind them they are not alone.
