Scripture & Song · Edition 008
Hope can meet you on the road.
And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Luke 24:32 · KJV
Disappointment can narrow our attention. We replay what we hoped would happen and notice every reminder that it did not. Even a familiar passage can sound different when we bring that honesty to it.
In Luke 24, two travelers speak of their shattered hopes while the risen Jesus walks beside them. He opens the Scriptures before they recognize him at the table. Their burning hearts belong to this encounter with Christ, not a general promise that every difficult feeling will quickly pass.
Return to the passage slowly this week. What do you notice about the way Jesus listens, explains, and stays? Share one thought with someone who would welcome it. Hope can be offered gently, without forcing an ending onto another person's story.
