Scripture & Song · Edition 003

Before the next thing, give thanks.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 150:6 · KJV

Good things are easy to hurry past. Someone remembers your name. A friend answers the phone. There is food on the table, or a little laughter after a difficult day. Before long, our attention moves to what still needs fixing.

Psalm 150 closes the Psalter with a widening invitation to praise: instruments, voices, and everything that has breath. It is not a demand to deny sorrow. The same book has already made room for tears, questions, and lament.

Name one ordinary kindness you do not want to take for granted. Thank God for it. If a person was part of that gift, tell them what you noticed. Specific gratitude often reaches further than a general compliment.
