Scripture & Song · Edition 007
A song for the days that still hurt.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 42:11 · KJV
Some losses stay present long after other people stop asking. An empty chair, an ordinary date, a familiar song: grief can return through details that seem small from the outside. You do not owe anyone a quick recovery.
Psalm 42 speaks of tears, remembered worship, and a soul that is cast down. Its repeated call to hope does not erase those feelings. Lament and trust live in the same prayer, giving us words when cheerful language would not be honest.
You may listen today, or you may leave the song for another time. If someone comes to mind, ask what would help rather than choosing for them. A quiet check-in with no expectation of a reply can say more than an explanation.

A gentle way to be near.
If music would be welcome, make a song of remembrance. If not, your presence and a simple message are enough.
